What a Scorcher!

Gorgeous weather down in Cornwall over the bank holiday weekend was an added bonus to a marvellous action-packed festival, which is being acclaimed by many as “the best yet.”

The streets and squares were alive with dancers, buskers, processions and street entertainers. Song and music sessions overflowed from the pubs out into the streets, contributing to the overall feel-good atmosphere.

Highlights

There were so many but for me a few deserve special mention:

The opening concert on Friday night featured Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick, heroes from way back playing together again. It was a sell-out and the fans were not disappointed, as we were treated to a blend of old and new material, superbly performed. This was the icing on the cake after an already splendid set of performances from Stompin' Dave Allen and Steve Turner – a welcome returner to the festival.

Stompin' Dave – you have to see it to believe it! Have you ever before seen “Duelling Banjos” performed in two parts by just one guy on one banjo? At top speed – while continuing to stomp on his box! Never mind the various other feats, such as juggling with his fiddle and bow, without missing a beat, and the excellent music he can play so fluently. A truly memorable, five-star evening...

Headliners MARTIN CARTHY & DAVE SWARBRICK are touring together for the first time in 14 years.
The legendary ANDY IRVINE is playing the Main Stage on the Sunday night.
CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL to take place Daily at the Goods Shed during the festival, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Puppet shows, songs, music, games, face painting, circus tricks and more!
There will be CELIDHS and TROYL all weekend at the Churchill Bars.
The FESTIVAL FOLK CLUB takes place on Saturday, Sunday and Monday in the back room at the Molesworth Arms. Each time, a main act will play, and there will be floor spots available beforehand. Details of how to apply available soon.
SEASON TICKETS and INDIVIDUAL EVENT TICKETS are on sale now. The weekend season ticket offers the best value, as it includes every festival event over the four days. Only £66 for adults, £34.50 for 16 and under, free for 5 and under (except children's events which are charged separately for 5 and unders) - book now! Order Online or call 01208 814638.
PROGRAMME CHANGES Corncrow will be appearing at the festival again this year on Sunday and Monday. The Ragtime guitar workshops will be replaced with something else (TBA). Jim Tigwell and Chris Ricketts & Mark Willshire will not now be appeairng at all. See programme for full details.
The FESTIVAL CAMPSITE is at Little Bodieve Holiday Park, where a field has been assigned for festival goers. You can buy camping here. £8 per adult per night, £5 per child.
FOOD AND A BAR will be provided at the Town Hall by Skinner's Brewery, featuring their famous Betty Stoggs ale.
The CRAFT FAIR will be at the John Betjamin Centre during the festival. There are still some spaces available, so if you'd like to trade, please Email Us.
